“… the heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” – James 5:16b (AMP)
How we are praying today
When I was at Bible school, Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin taught us how to pray for revival. He always told us that the Bible is the word and will of God. So anytime that we pray according to the Bible, we are praying God’s will.
Acts 4:24-26, 29-31 (ESV) is a record of the early church in prayer:
“(24) And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them. (25) who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit, ‘Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain? (26) The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’”
“(29) And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, (30) while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” (31) And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.”
Right before this passage, the rulers of that they threatened the apostles Peter and John with punishment unless they stop talking and teaching about Jesus (Acts 4:18-21). Thankfully few of us have experienced anything like that. After acknowledging the threat, the church asks God for what they need to continue to share his love through Jesus Christ to their community.
Lord, grant [us and all] Your servants boldness to speak Your word, and demonstrate Your miraculous power through the Name of Jesus. God’s word causes faith rise so the people respond to God (Romans 10:8-9). His healing and miracle power demonstrates his love to a hurting world. It is His love that changes the human heart (Romans 2:4).
God is moving on the earth today, and he wants to do more. Every one of us can pray the scripture prayer and cooperate with him and demonstrating His love!
Wisdom from past generations
“Unless I had the spirit of prayer, I could do nothing.” – Charles Finney
“it seems God is limited by our prayer life – that He can do nothing for humanity unless someone ask Him.” – John Wesley
