Copenhagen, Denmark
Copenhagen is constantly considered one of the most livable cities on earth. It has a vast shopping area downtown. It is a very expensive city. I found it very difficult to find a simple meal for less than $25.
Copenhagen is famously known as the happiest city on earth. And I can say this without any doubt: The people here are generally the friendliest people that I have ever met. It was very easy to strike up a conversation with almost anyone. Because of this phenomenon, we decided to spend more time conversing and asking questions while we were there. One day we just went from shop to shop asking people if they knew of any Christian events or discussion groups, explaining that we are Christian ministers looking to provide connections and resources to any Christian group in need.
People were friendly with us while varying in their level of interest in what we were doing. Aside from one person telling us that the churches in the area put on lots of concerts, no one knew of anything that was going on. Some explained that Danes are spiritual, but not religious, a typical European explanation for society’s lack of interest in church.
On my last day in Copenhagen, I saw something I have never seen before. It looked like some sort of Muslim outreach event. There was music and signs declaring Allah’s greatness, and table full of free books and materials. Interesting…
Copenhagen will be won!
